Music educators agree that learning piano on a portable keyboard is counterproductive to the development of proper touch, tone and expression. Some may suggest that keyboards are a viable alternative to piano students and that the feel of an electronic keyboard is the same as a piano. But the truth is that it never is.
The feel of a key is of significant importance as it not only produces the desired note, but it also controls the musically critical dynamics of the note, the very soul of the musical tone that is produced. The true sound/tone of a piano cannot be produced in an electronic instrument. The wood materials utilized in the manufacturing of an acoustic piano are necessary to produce the "real" warm and resonant sound of a piano.
