IL-SU YOON IS A MASTERS STUDENT OF DR. CARL CRANMER AT THE WELLS SCHOOL OF MUSIC AT WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY OF PA. SHE RECENTLY WAS SELECTED BY THE UNIVERSITY TO BE THE RECIPIENT OF THE ANNUAL JACOBS MUSIC STEINWAY AWARD, WHICH IS GIVEN AT VARIOUS UNIVERSITIES TO AN OUTSTANDING PIANIST.

Born in Daejeon, South Korea, Il-Su Yoon began playing piano at the age of six, and early in her studies won many regional competitions. She made her solo and concerto debut at age 12 in her city of Daejeon. A full-scholarship student at Daejeon Arts High School, she won the Best Performer Award for three consecutive years and was also given several awards from the Samsung Scholarship Foundation. As an undergraduate student, she received a full scholarship to the highly competitive Seoul National University, studying with piano professor Hyoung-Joon Chang, where she graduated cum laude. After winning the West Chester University concerto competition, she performed Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a minor, Op. 16 with the WCU Symphony Orchestra. She is presently in the Graduate Piano Program at WCU, where she was awarded a full-tuition graduate assistantship.
