The Epitome of Elegance:
Steinway's Skyline Qing Ming Grand Pianos

The Steinway grand piano, THE QING MING, intricately woven into the esteemed Skyline concept, is a magnificent tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Qingming Festival. With roots spanning over 2500 years in Chinese tradition, the festival holds deep significance, eventually becoming a public holiday in China in 2008.

This festival is celebrated with various customs, including the consumption of qingtuan, vibrant green dumplings made from rice and Chinese barley grass. THE QING MING Steinway pays homage to this ancient tradition by referencing the renowned 12th-century Qingming scroll by Zhang Zeduan. This scroll is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese art, capturing the bustling scene of Kaifeng city, the capital of the Song Dynasty, during a Qingming festival.

The piano elegantly mirrors the intricate details of the painting, seamlessly blending historical reverence with musical excellence. Its design encapsulates the essence of the festival, creating a harmonious fusion of art, culture, and music that resonates with aficionados of both heritage and craftsmanship. THE QING MING stands as a testament to Steinway's commitment to preserving cultural legacies through the artistry of their pianos, inviting enthusiasts to embark on a sensory journey through time and tradition.

###

"The Qing Ming" is a finish adorned with a 23-karat gold leaf mural around the entire case of the piano. Applied through a painstaking process of painting, brushing and intricate etching, the gold-leaf imagery takes the viewer on a visual tour through the ancient 12th-century Keifeng city depicted by Zhang Zeduan in his Qing Ming scrolls.

The QING MING SKYLINE is available in all Ebony and White STEINWAY grand piano sizes and is also available as a STEINWAY & SONS SPIRIO.
